You probably have a ton of products and offers available that you could sell to your audience, but which one should you put into your first funnel? That is what we were talking about today on the show. Last week, we talked about what a sales funnel is and some simple types of sales funnels that you could use in your business.
0:27
This week, we are going to start talking about what product to choose for your first sales funnel if you’re choosing to start by selling a product at a discount. The right product in the right funnel makes it really easy for potential buyers to say yes and to make that first purchase with you.
0:48
And once they’ve made that first purchase, you can nurture them on your email list. You can continue to point them to other offers that are perfect for them based on that one offer that they opted in with. Starting small and choosing the right product is a great way to build trust and to get people a quick win that gets them excited about the other products and offers that you are going to be sharing with them down the road. So you want to make sure that you are choosing the right product for your sales funnels.
1:22
Are you a digital product or course, creator, selling on platforms like teachers, pay teachers, Etsy or your own website? Ready to grow your business, but not into the kind of constant hustle that leads straight to burnout? Then you’re in the right place.
1:37
Welcome to The Savvy Seller. I’m Kristen Doyle, and I’m here to give you no fluff, tools and strategies that move the needle for your business without burning you out in the process. Things like SEO, no stress, marketing, email list, building, automations and so much more. Let’s get started y’all.
2:02
So let’s talk about three main criteria you can use to choose your product to put into this simple sales funnel. The first one should be that this product should be an easy yes for people who are looking at it. It should be a product that does not require them to do a lot of thinking and weighing whether it’ll be worth it or not.
2:25
You want to choose a product that’s already at a fairly low price point and that you can discount by about 50% and still have it at least somewhere around $15 or up, so that if you decide to run ads to this product, you’re able to get a good return on your ad investment.
2:43
One good example would be if you have a best selling bundle of printables that maybe the regular price is $34 and you could discount it to 17. Being able to say that it is 50% off, or over half off, is a great way to build excitement about purchasing right then in the funnel and still gives you a high enough price point to be worth any ad spend that you might be doing.
3:09
A bundle of printables that you already know are best sellers are practical and it solves an immediate need for your audience, as long as you pick one that lines up really well with their pain points. One reason I like using bundles for funnel products is that they offer a ton of value, and a lot of times they can address multiple pain points, which is really helpful if you have an audience who maybe you aren’t exactly sure what that one singular pain point is.
3:33
Maybe they kind of have a wide range of needs. Bundles also let buyers get a taste of your resources, and then you can follow up with them later through the rest of your emails to purchase other products, like related activities or lesson plans or other products on related topics.
3:52
Another thing to consider is whether or not the product you’re thinking of putting into your funnel is connected to other maybe bigger offers that you have in your business. Choosing a product that makes a good introduction to your other offers is great because it would naturally lead buyers to purchase that more comprehensive offer or that higher priced offer down the road.
4:17
A good example of this would be if you have a mini course, or maybe a one hour training on a specific topic. You could probably price that somewhere in the 15 to $20 range with a discount. And this provides a quick win for your audience, because you’re teaching them something, and it also sets you up as the expert that they can come to and trust.
4:39
Now down the road, after some emails, that purchase, could lead them to purchase a more in depth course on the same topic, or maybe on the next step, after they’ve mastered what you taught in this mini course or this training. It could also lead to maybe a coaching offer if you have one or even a bundle of related resources to that training, something that they could use to implement what they learned in that training and make it faster and easier for them.
5:08
The third thing you’ll want to consider is the sales history of the product or the offer that you’re putting into the funnel. You want to stick with something that you know already sells well, especially for your first funnel. Look for something that has a track record of helping your audience, getting great feedback, high conversion rates, and also a lot of sales, because those are going to be the best candidates for your funnel.
5:35
Something that people are already finding useful is likely to convert really well in your sales funnel, just like it is already converting in your storefront, or however else you’ve been selling this product. Think about things like a customizable template that people can use. They are practical. They save people time, which is honestly one of probably everyone’s pain points, and they offer immediate value.
6:01
There is nothing out there to get you a quick win, like having a template that cuts the work out of doing something, and all you have to do is fill in your information, and you immediately have something that you can use that’s customized to you.
6:14
Once somebody buys your template, they’re likely to come back for other things to help streamline their work, to help them save time, especially if you have a lot of templates available. So think about things like planning or organization tools, web page templates, social media, graphic templates, all of those sorts of things can be a really good thing to put into a sales funnel that people are going to see early on, because they do get those quick wins and offer that immediate value of saving the person time.
6:43
So let’s recap those three criteria for choosing the best product to put into your funnel. First, you want to choose something that makes a very easy yes, you don’t want this to be a super high price point that people have to think about. But you also don’t want it to be too low.
7:00
You want it to be something that is directly connected to things you’re going to offer to sell them in the future. And you want something that has already been proven to sell well and to convert really well, to have high conversion rates with your audience.
7:15
So whether you’re choosing a best selling printable bundle, a mini course that you’ve already created, or a simple template that you know your audience loves. The key here really is to make it a no brainer for buyers to jump in and say yes to that offer that you’re putting in the funnel.
7:33
So your action step for today is to look through your products, whether you’re looking through a storefront at all the products you have there, or maybe you’re looking at courses and trainings that you’ve done in the past. Look through your products with those three criteria in mind, and choose the one that you think really will resonate best with your audience to choose as your starting point.
7:59
Now your very first task is to choose that product. But if you want to start drumming up a little excitement, you might want to set up a wait list on a quick, simple, little landing page that you can start talking about and getting people to sign up, so that when this is available, you are ready to send it out to some people who are already primed to buy.
8:24
The biggest and most important thing for you to do, if you’re wanting to start running some sales funnels, is to take a single step that just gets you started this week. I would encourage you to make that single step this week, to choose your product and if it’s not already packaged up in a way that you can sell it as a single product, maybe it’s a bunch of products you need to put into a bundle. Then go ahead and do that.
8:51
Get your product ready to sell, and let that be your very first step in creating your first sales funnel. And then don’t forget to tune in next week for our next episode in the sales funnel series, where we will talk about setting up that sales page so that you can sell your offer. I’ll talk to you then!
