Website Case Study

Julie Simons, LCSW

A site built to position Julie as the expert she is

Julie has over 25 years of experience as a therapist, with deep training in evidence-based methods like CBT, EMDR, and ART. But her old website didn’t reflect that.

I built Julie a custom WordPress site that puts her experience and methods front and center, gives potential clients a clear picture of who she works best with, and makes it easy for them to take the next step.

“I’m excited to have a beautiful new website design. Working with Kristen was enjoyable and I was very satisfied with the product.”

Where We Started

Julie had years of experience and a set of specialized, evidence-based methods, but her website wasn’t showing it. Visitors couldn’t easily tell what she specialized in, who she worked best with, or what made her approach different from any other therapist’s.

She needed a site that made that case for her, clearly and fast. She also wanted an efficient way for new clients to reach out or complete necessary intake forms.

What We Were Trying to Accomplish

Every decision on this site had to answer one question: does this help the right client recognize themselves and reach out? With that in mind, we set out to:

  • Position Julie as an expert in her specific methods, not just “a therapist”
  • Make it clear who she works best with, so the right clients self-select in
  • Give new clients a straightforward way to request an appointment and complete intake forms

Designed with Purpose

Good design isn’t just about making a website look nice. It’s about helping the business behind it work better. Before we design a single page, we get clear on what the site needs to accomplish. From there, every decision is made with those goals in mind.

Here’s a look at a few of the choices that shaped this website.

Making the case for why Julie’s methods work

We wanted visitors to trust Julie’s approach before they were asked to book anything. So we built the homepage around the problem first (the internal scripts people run when they’re anxious or stuck) and let Julie’s specific, evidence-based methods answer it, instead of leading with a generic “get started” pitch.

Helping the right clients recognize themselves

We wanted potential clients to see themselves on the page before they ever picked up the phone. So we built the Work With Me page around specific situations and outcomes, people who feel out of control on the inside, who are stuck in old patterns, who want better relationships, rather than a general list of services. The people who aren’t a fit filter themselves out early. The people who are feel understood right away.

Turning clinical training into something clients can understand

We wanted Julie’s specialized training to read as a real point of difference, not just a credentials list. So we gave each method (CBT, EMDR, ART, TEAM-CBT, and more) its own clear, plain-language explanation of what it does and why it matters, so a prospective client can actually understand what they’d be signing up for.

Building trust before the ask

We wanted new clients to feel like they already knew Julie a little before they filled out a form. So the About page leads with her own story, why she does this work and what she’s been through herself, ahead of any call to action. That context makes “Request an Appointment” feel like a natural next step instead of a cold ask.

The Finished Result

Julie’s site now makes her case for her before a single form gets filled out. A visitor can land on the homepage, see themselves in the problem, understand exactly which method addresses it, and read Julie’s own story, all before reaching the contact page.

The result is a site that feels like Julie: experienced, direct, and genuinely invested in the people she works with. It gives her room to keep adding to her methods and her writing as her practice grows, without losing that clarity.

Julie's Thoughts

“Kristen knows what she’s doing. She gives you everything you need on your end so that she can create exactly what you want. She lets you know ahead of time what to expect so you’re not blindsided.”

No two businesses are the same, which is exactly why no two websites should be either.
